There are three things I have encountered which can need fixing. Another symptom is that Windows will not let you delete the port as described above. One symptom is that having removed printer(s) and exited from "Devices and Printers" - if you re-enter "DevicesĪnd Printers" the printers have returned. You may well find one of a couple of problems. The above will work in many cases but unfortunately not all. Check any available port and exit out of 'properties' window. Select the port and click “Delete port".Ħ.
